Sheldon and Nugget Update

Latest weigh-in:

Sheldon: 153grams
Nugget: 178 grams

Nugget is definitely visibly larger than Sheldon now, which is funny, as he/she was definitely smaller when we got him/her.

It's also probably too early to tell, but I think they are different sexes - their tails are different and their shells are slightly different, too. If I had to guess, I'd say Shelly was a girl and Nugget a boy.  :-)

The white stuff on their food is calcium supplement powder - they really shouldn't be eating store produce at all, but if they do, you should always add salcium supplements as they are growing at a crazy rate, and their shells needs this mineral for proper growth.
Also vital is a good UV lamp.

Hi the photos of the two torts are brilliant.  Sheldons shell looks very shiny and they look very healthy.  Looks like they get plenty of fresh food.  Would the man in the pet shop be able to tell you their sex.  You will be having baby torts soon if you dont find out sex of each one.

just been looking at last weigh in of tortoises. Sheldon was approx 42 grammes.  They have gained an awful lot of weight in the short period you have had them.  You will have giants soon.  Do they stop putting on weight.  They will need a bigger house.  Hope you can add an extension.
Really amazed at how much they have grown.  Can you keep a graph of their weights, so we can compare their growth over a period of time. At the moment I have to keep going back to first pictures of the Tortoises then back to new weight.  It would be nice if we could see it all on one page.  with dates of weight taken please.
