Well, it looks like we're moving house soon, so (by default), that means the animals will need something new, too.
The new place has a little over an acre of land, and they will be able to toddle around about 1/2 of that - a mix of trees/grass/rocks etc.

We need to plan the fencing first, and then plan some sort of semi-permanent house that is big enough for all 3 of the animals (the "babies" are growing at a frightening rate!), obviously with a separate area for Magoo and the "babies" - I don't think they'd do well together.

So, hopefully I will be able to take photos and document progress, as before, for anybody who is interested in following along.

still think concrete/brick base for large house for three tortoises with partions of plywood to separate babies and magoo. good strong door to get in, you would be good to build a double shell brick house with tile roof. a proper building for them to live in, plus it would be warmer and safer.  Take a course on brick building, I am sure Roxanne would love to do it.  Make sure you have a big strong foundation to build on. (broken bricks and concrete).  Good luck  bc1940

Unfortunately, I don't think a full brick/concrete house is going to happen anytime soon, I simply don't have the time, money or experience to attempt such a thing.
it will probably have to be mostly wood construction, which will be plenty warm enough, as I intend to insulate it well, and in any case, they come inside during the really cold months. It's really just a place for them to sleep at night and hide out during bad weather, so it really doesn't have to be too elaborate!

Hi, your wood panels need to be off the snow and frost ground,(grass or soil) hence putting concrete blocks down first and joining in between with liquid concrete helps to keep wood dry and warm floor.  You can put wood flooring on top of concrete.  Need to start with a substantial base to build  on.  Dont forget the thickness of the panels and lining take up a lot of the space so needs to be extra large.
